Using art, play, and age appropriate cognitive behavioral therapy, I help children and adolescents (ages 6-18) identify and express their kaleidoscope of feelings safely. I will work with younger children (ages 2-5) in the context of Parent Coaching.
I am trained and experienced in treating the following Child and Adolescent concerns:
Self-Injurious Behavior Oppositional Defiance Trauma Divorce Adjustment Anxiety Depression Social Skills Sibling-Relational Problems Grief and Loss Gifted and Talented Concerns Family Conflict Blended Family Concerns
Young people may unable or unwilling to verbalize thoughts and feelings for a variety of reasons. Art and Play therapy provide a safe way to express feelings that may feel too vulnerable to express directly.
Often times I will enlist the child's parents in therapy as research shows that children tend to make positive behavior and mood changes more quickly, and that these changes tend to be longer lasting with parent or caregiver participation in therapy. I provide School Observations and frequent communicate with a child or teen's school personnel if necessary.
Here are some of the goals I have helped my child and adolescent clients reach:
