Family Counseling Change does not take place in a vacuum. By involving multiple family members in therapy, change can occur within and be sustained by the whole family system, not just one individual. In fact, research shows that family therapy often helps to create change more quickly, and that these changes tend to be longer lasting when working with children and teens.
I have worked with children, adolescents and their families in an outpatient and school based setting at the Aurora Mental Health Center, as well as facilitating in-home therapy for children who were at risk for foster care placement at the Griffith Center for Children. In addition I have received extensive supervision in Family Therapy from the Denver Family Institute and have been trained in a Family Preservation model of care.
Here are some of the goals I have helped families reach: Develop Trust and Closeness in Our Blended Family Recover from a Trauma and/or Loss Improve My Relationship with My Child Transition to a Bi-Nuclear Household (Two separate houses occurring from Divorce) Establish a Positive Relationship with my Estranged Child (Reintegration) Improve our Communication
